This course describes the capabilities and basic operating processes of System Modification Program Extended (SMP/E). Specifically, it discusses SMP/E's system management and maintenance capabilities, SMP/E processing and data flow, SYSMOD content and construction, SMP/E primary and secondary data sets, and the JCL used for SMP/E execution. This course is designed for system programmers who are not familiar with System Modification Program Extended (SMP/E) and who will be servicing OS/390 or MVS subsystems. It will also be useful for system programmers or data processing managers who wish to understand SMP/E's capabilities and processing flow.
