This course presents the basics of administering a UNIX operating system. It includes instruction on adding and removing users, backing up the file system, managing the file system, and manipulating the run-time environment. The course introduces the concept of system administration. It describes the duties of the system administrator, introduces the superuser and discusses how an administrator accesses the system, It also explains file systems and introduces some of the standard directories and files found in the UNIX system.
