Leading Self To Lead Others
As society changes, so do people. Our concept of good leadership has evolved over time. Very noticeable changes have occurred within the last few decades.
There is a growing realization in progressive organizations that effective and ethical leadership involves creating wins with respect to the four basic dimensions of leadership. The model used here is based on the work of Robert Dilts (Isvor-Dilts 1999). People have also changed over time, the use of power to achieve objectives within teams / organizations is no longer effective. Rapport- building and personal influence have become much more important (relational skills). Leadership must also achieve this within the constraints of the larger whole (systemic skills). Leadership must also set objectives that the team can and will engage with and become motivated about (strategic skills). In order to achieve all these things very member of the team must connect with the leader within and learn to lead themselves (self leadership skills).

Building effective leadership skills within every team member will enhance the performance of the entire team. Amid highly fluid and challenging environments a working knowledge of the 'four dimensions of leadership' will enable a team / organization to be robust, creative and highly adaptive.
