The Mid-Life Challenge
The Mid-Life Challenge: How to make meaning and money in your second half of life
Monthly Teleclass: Please check the website for details
By the time we reach mid-life somewhere between the ages of 40 and 55, it seems that we are just one wake-up call away from questioning everything in our lives. Relationships, finances, health, and one s emotional state all tend to surface a bit raising anxiety and questioning. The one area however which gets the most attention is our work.
After all, the work we do defines who we are. What happens though when we suddenly wake-up in mid-life and discover that we are not content with who we are or what we do? We have too many responsibilities to even think about change or should we?
The question in mid-life is if we are not happy with our work, what can we do about it? Society and those around us certainly don t help. We have plenty of people around to offer us resume help, career assessment testing and job descriptions.
Do these jobs come with self-actualization?
Sadly, for most jobs, self-actualization doesn t come in the benefits package next to the 401K program and free coffee on Friday s. As a result, it is up to each person in mid-life to take control with self-reflection, new decisions and action, moving towards what they love to do. It s not easy but it is possible.
