Listening is one of the most important communication skills we possess. Unfortunately, the ability to do it well does not come naturally. In our listening skills programs we focus on assessing how well you listen, different listening tips and techniques, and what non-verbals can tell you (See Details Below).

Classroom programs can range in length from two hours to three days. We can conduct these sessions at your place of business, or at other locations including conference centers, resorts, or other meeting facilities. Essential Listening Skills
Communicating effectively is key to working well with others. Expressing yourself clearly and listening for the real message can prevent many problems from ever arising. Participants will learn the relevance, benefits, and need for effective listening as well as the necessary skills to be an active listener. Overcoming barriers to clear communication is also discussed. Activities are used throughout to reinforce the learning.


You will explore:

The Basics Of Communication
Explore the fundamental components of effective communication, and what is necessary for shared understanding between speaker and listener.

Understanding Communication Styles
Practice using feedback and self-disclosure to improve your communications with others. Focus will be place on:
Emotional effects (type, level, and content)
Impact of body language and tone of voice
Intent (real vs. perceived) of interpersonal communication

Working Through Communications With Other People
Practice your communication skills with other group members in actual problem-solving and consensus-building activities.

How Well You Listen (Self-Assessment)
Take an insightful assessment that will help you evaluate your listening habits, pinpointing areas for improvement.

Barriers Between The Listener And The Speaker
Examine how eliminating these simple barriers can improve understanding for both yourself and others.
