An ideal back to basics refresher course for those within a Material Planning role, particularly useful prior to an ERP 'go-live' to compliment IT systems training.
Will be a valuable overview of the subject matter for other functions whose actions have an implication on the bigger picture demand & supply execution plan (for example Manufacturing Team Leaders, Warehouse staff, Purchasing, and various other support staff - Technical, Quality, Customer Services).

MRP concepts & fundamentals
Unlike the MRP courses presented back in the 1980s this course now includes the 'beauty of hindsight' - giving examples of what worked well and what didn't, what lessons we've learned, and how far we have come.
Starting with the history and evolution (into modern web enabled ERP systems), the elements of a system are discussed (inputs, processing, outputs). Ensuring the delegates understand the basic mechanics (BOM explosions, Lead Time offsets, batch sizing rules, Time Phased Order Point grids, etc) a hands on exercise is presented which demonstrates how a simple order can trigger some big problems across the supply chain through poor communication and data housekeeping - including demand amplification, previously urgent orders now requiring cancellation etc. The scenario is typical of what happens in the 'real world' and is related to well by attendees - however the end-to-end implications are often quite astonishing to them.
