This course begins by guiding the learner through Java 2 Java technologies and tools and J2EE. Then pervasive computing is covered. The learner is introduced to security threats and the measures used to counteract them. Web services are discussed and a case study is presented. An overview of IBM WebSphere and Framework products is included.

Audience
Executives managers and technical leaders who need to start e-business projects but who do not have a background in e-business. Individuals who want to understand e-business (including the underlying technologies) designing building blocks and products used to build solutions. No prerequisite knowledge of e-business technology is assumed. This course is the prerequisite course for the WebSphere Java and XML curricula.

Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
