Audience

Six months previous experience in an IT project-intensive environment or six months experience managing IT projects.

Objective

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Identify guidelines for implementing the typical phases of a project life cycle.

Unit 2: Project Participants and Processes

  • Identify necessary skills for effective project management.
  • Identify how to manage stakeholdersa needs and requirements.
  • Identify how to determine project success criteria.
  • Identify guidelines for implementing the five project management processes.
  • Simulation Overview.

Unit 3: Project Selection and Initiation

  • Identify the components of a project charter.
  • Identify guidelines for carrying out a SWOT analysis.
  • Identify models to use for project selection.
  • Identify the components of a scope document.
  • Identify guidelines for obtaining stakeholder consensus and approval of the scope document.
  • Simulation Overview.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
