Audience

Six months previous experience in an IT project-intensive environment or six months experience managing IT projects.

Objective

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Identify the difference between quantitative and qualitative risk analysis.
  • Identify techniques used for planning monitoring and controlling risk.
  • Identify guidelines for performance reporting.
  • Identify guidelines for archiving projects.
  • Identify factors that lead to project failure.

Unit 1: Scope Schedule and Cost

  • Identify the features of scope verification and scope creep.
  • Identify the factors involved in schedule control.
  • Identify guidelines for shortening a project schedule.
  • Identify guidelines for using the project variables to control the effects of scope change.
  • Simulation Overview.

Unit 2: Quality Risk and Performance

  • Identify features of quality management.
  • Identify guidelines for managing risk.
  • Identify techniques used for planning monitoring and controlling risk.
  • Identify the purpose of performance reporting.
  • Simulation Overview.

Unit 3: Project Completion

  • Identify how administrative closure applies to projects.
  • Identify the purpose of the a Closeouta and a Lessons Learneda reports.
  • Identify steps for carrying out contract closure.
  • Identify when to terminate a project.
  • Identify factors that lead to project failure.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
