Professionals are required to communicate effectively. In doing so they must have a good understanding of proper grammar skills. This course covers punctuation and mechanics synonyms antonyms and homonyms as well as commonly misused and misspelled words.

Audience
Professionals who want to learn or improve their business writing skills. Course Prerequisites: The Grammar Skills series will provide professionals with the necessary skills to write and communicate using proper grammar. This 3-part series is an "upgrade" to the current BPD Grammar Skills Series.
Objective
Upon completion of this course the student will learn:
- To identify guidelines for using appropriate words when writing.
- To identify types of words to avoid when writing.
- To identify rules for using commas.
- To identify guidelines for using semicolons.
- To identify guidelines for using colons.
- To identify features of synonyms and antonyms.
- To identify correct uses of homonyms.
- To match commonly misused words with their descriptions.
- To identify guidelines for attaching prefixes and suffixes to words.
- To identify spelling guidelines.

Unit 1: Word Choice
- Identify guidelines for using appropriate words when writing.

Unit 2: Punctuation and Mechanics

- Distinguish between parentheses and brackets.

Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
