Description
This course maps to the Microsoft Office Expert certification objectives for the Excel 2003 Expert exams. Learners completing these courses should be well prepared for the certification exams, and have a solid foundation in basic Excel skills.
Audience
The target audience will range from new users to power users. It is expected that the vast majority of learners will have at least had some exposure to previous versions of Excel. Fundamental PC and Windows skills are assumed.
Prerequisites

Objective
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- manage a named range.
- manage a function in Excel.
- check data in Excel.
- use Evaluate Formula, cell Watch, and Data Validation.
- analyze and project data in Excel.
- modify default Excel settings.
- modify toolbars, menus, and workbook properties.
- create, edit, and run a macro.
Topics Include
Unit 1: Managing Named Ranges and Functions
- Manage a named range.
- Manage a function in Excel.
Unit 2: Auditing, Analyzing and Structuring Data
- Check data in Excel.
- Use Evaluate Formula, cell Watch, and Data Validation.
- Structure data using XML.
- Analyze and project data in Excel.
Unit 3: Modifying Excel and Working with Macros
- Modify default Excel settings.
- Modify toolbars, menus, and workbook properties.
- Create, edit, and run a macro.

4 Hours
Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently, only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
