- D asked: Hi, I am currently on disability due to a back injury acquired from work. I have been in the construction field for over years (mainly as a foreman/project manager of framing crews). I have come to the realization that I probably will be unable to do heavy physical work due to my back injury, however carpentry is all I know. Day
One:
The New Construction business and markets
Qualifications and references
Creating a resume and company profile
Proposals and contracts
Inspection formats and forms
Dealing with clients and builders/developers
Working for owners or builders
Dealing with codes and basic construction documents
Underground and foundation inspection
Rough framing, electrical, plumbing, mechanical inspection
Roofing, waterproofing and insulation inspection
Final inspection, including egress, stairways, etc.
Photographical review of at least 150 actual on-site conditions

2:
Building Codes based upon the 2000 International Residential
Code and the 1997 Uniform Building Code
Plumbing Codes based upon the 2000 International Residential
Code and the 1997 Uniform Plumbing Code
Day
3:
Mechanical Codes based upon the 2000 International Residential
Code and the 1997 Uniform Mechanical Code
Electrical Codes based upon the 2000 International Residential
Code and the 1999 National Electrical Code
*Approved for 12 hours in Illinois
