This module delves into cable and wireless media types. Lesson 1 highlights the important points about unshielded twisted pair (UTP) and shielded twisted pair (STP) as well as the two types of coax cooper cable. It also discusses the properties of multimode and singlemode fiber optic cable. Then it reviews the various wireless options and details the IEEE 802.11 group of wireless transmission standards. Lesson 2 is focused on cabling a LAN with Electronic Industry Association/Telecommunications Industry Association EIA/TIA 568A/B standards for UTP cable. Emphasis is placed on determining when to use a straight-through crossover or rollover cable and how to establish a console connection. Lesson 3 takes you through the steps of cabling a WAN.
