Module 5 focuses on the IP Protocol Suite (commonly referred to as TCP/IP). Lesson 1 provides an overview of Network Layer protocols including the Internet Protocol (IP) Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) Reverse Address Resolution Protocol (RARP) and Internetwork Message Control Protocol (ICMP). Lesson 2 identifies the Transport Layer components: Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) for connection-oriented transmissions and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) for connectionless transmissions. Lesson 3 discusses a few of the upper layer applications used for e-mail Web services administration and file transfers. After reviewing this module you will have a better understanding about the entire IP suite not just TCP/IP.
