This course provides an overview of the basic requirements needed to understand and comply with HIPAA portability rules.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) prohibits discrimination by group health plans based upon the health status of an individual. It sets mandated standards for the portability and availability of health care including standards for nondiscrimination Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse and the electronic transmission of health care information.
