Audience

This course is intended for employees whose job responsibilities include quality management or process control. This may include new employees employees with new assignments including quality or managers of employees responsible for quality programs.

Objective

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Identify key aspects of standards.
  • Identify benefits of using standards.
  • Identify key aspects of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards.
  • Identify benefits of registration of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9000:2000.
  • Identify the functions of registrars in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) registration process.
  • Identify elements of transition to International Organization for Standardization (ISO): 9000:2000.
  • Sequence the steps for implementing International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9000:2000.
  • Identify requirements for customizing the five processes in an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) implementation plan.
  • Identify elements of the Quality Management System (QMS) documentation system.
  • Identify characteristics and benefits of a quality manual.
  • Identify features of a sample quality manual.

Unit 1: Introduction to ISO 9000

  • Identify key aspects of standards.
  • Identify benefits of using standards.
  • Identify key aspects of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards.
  • Sequence the steps in the process of developing International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards.
  • Identify the quality management principles defined in International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9000:2000.
  • Identify the main members of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9000:2000.
  • Identify key differences between International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9000:1994 and ISO 9000:2000.

Unit 2: Registration of ISO 9000

  • Identify benefits of registration of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9000:2000.
  • Identify the functions of registrars in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) registration process.
  • Identify elements of transition to International Organization for Standardization (ISO): 9000:2000.

Unit 3: Implementation of ISO 9000

  • Sequence the steps for implementing International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9000:2000.
  • Identify requirements for customizing the five processes in an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) implementation plan.

Unit 4: Documentation of ISO 9000

  • Identify elements of the Quality Management System (QMS) documentation system.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
