Audience

This series is designed for managers supervisors team leaders and project managers who are involved with supply chain management within their organization or need to understand the basics of supply chain management. It is also appropriate for those involved with logistics sourcing warehouse and transportation management and operations.

Objective

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Define concepts related to supply chain management (SCM).
  • Identify drawbacks of the traditional supply chain.
  • Identify obstacles in supply chain optimization (SCO).
  • Identify the steps carried out during the stages of the Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) model.
  • Match the process categories of the SCOR model with their descriptions.

    Unit 1: Understanding the Fundamentals Supporting SCM

    • Define concepts related to supply chain management (SCM).
    • Identify drawbacks of the traditional supply chain.
    • Identify obstacles in supply chain optimization (SCO).
    • Identify possible strategies for SCO.
    • Identify the steps carried out during the stages of the Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) model.
    • Match the process categories of the SCOR model with their descriptions.

    Unit 2: The Maturity Model: Pre-Supply Chain to Level

    • Identify the problems at level 1 of supply chain management (SCM).
    • Identify elements of success at level 1 of the SCM.
    • Identify obstacles when transitioning from level 1 to level 2.
    • Select steps to overcome obstacles when transitioning from level 1 to level 2.
    • Identify elements of success at level 2 of supply chain management (SCM).

    Unit 3: Overcoming the Difficult Transition From Level 2 to Level 3

    • Identify benefits of transitioning to level 3.
    • Identify obstacles encountered when transitioning from level 2 to level 3.
    • Identify steps to overcome obstacles when transitioning from level 2 to level 3.

    Minimum Requirements

    The CDROM version of this course requires:

    • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
    • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
    • At least 8MB RAM.
    • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
    • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
    • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
    The network version of this course requires:
    • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
    • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
    • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
    • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
