Course Objective:
This course is designed as an introduction to programmable controller systems. Instructor(s) will provide an introduction to programmable controller systems, how they work, and how they can be used to control various processes. Students will learn specific skills such as programming, editing, saving, uploading, downloading, and restoring PLC-5 ladder logic programs. In addition, students will become familiar with status bits, timers, counters, comparison, data manipulation, and program flow instructions. Frequent hands-on labs are provided using an actual PLC-5 system workstation.

Instructor:
The Texas State Technical College West Texas - Energy Management Program, EMP, provides industry experienced instructors to furnish students with an understanding of application and trouble shooting. The various PLC instructors are knowledgeable in pipeline/oilfield operations and industrial automation systems. Mr. John Ericson is a certified Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley PLC-5 and SLC 500 Instructor and offers a 30 year unique mix of practical field experience and high-end automation theory and practice.
