Course Objective:
This course is designed to expand on the knowledge gained in the Introduction to SLC 500 Programming course. The Instructor will provide labs and examples that demonstrate the function and application of many programming instructions and network capabilities. Students will learn specific skills such as programming, editing, saving, uploading, downloading, and restoring SLC 500 ladder logic programs. In addition, students will become familiar with program flow, logic, conversion, file, shift register, and sequence instructions. Frequent hands-on labs are provided using an actual SLC 500 system workstation.

The Texas State Technical College West Texas - Energy Management Program, EMP, provides industry experienced instructors to furnish students with an understanding of application and trouble shooting. The various PLC instructors are knowledgeable in pipeline/oilfield operations and industrial automation systems. Mr. John Ericson is a certified Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley PLC-5 and SLC 500 Instructor and offers a 30 year unique mix of practical field experience and high-end automation theory and practice
