Module 1: Introducing Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000

    At the end of this module you will be able to describe the role of Host Integration Server in the integration of applications data and networks. This includes:

  • Describing the need for host integration.

  • Defining the issues involved in integrating host applications and describing the Host Integration Server components for application integration.

  • Defining the issues involved in integrating host data and describing the Host Integration Server components for data integration.

  • Defining the issues involved in integrating host networks and describing the role of Host Integration Server in that integration.

  • Choosing the appropriate type of integration for a given environment.

    Module 2: Installing Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000

    The following topics are covered in this module:

  • Installing Host Integration Server

  • Running the SNA Resource Locator Wizard

  • Configuring Administrative Access

    At the end of this module you will be able to install Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000. This includes:

  • Describing how to install Host Integration Server.

  • Running the SNA Resource Location Wizard.

  • Configuring administrative access to Host Integration Server.

    Module 3: Configuring Network Access to SNA Hosts

    Module 4: Configuring Dependent LU Access to a Mainframe Computer

  • Configuring 3270 Display LU Access

  • Using the 3270 Client to Establish a Display Session

  • Configuring LUA Access to Mainframe Applications

  • Using LU Pools

  • Managing Host Integration Server Using WMI

    At the end of this module you will be able to configure dependent LU access to a mainframe computer. This includes:

  • Configuring 3270 display LU access to mainframe applications.

  • Using the 3270 client to establish a display session.

  • Configuring logical unit application (LUA) access to mainframe applications.

  • Configuring TN3270 access to mainframe applications by using the TN3270 Service.

  • Using LU pooling to configure a fault tolerant and load balanced environment.

  • Managing Host Integration Server by using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).

    Module 5: Configuring Independent LU 6.2 Access

  • Configuring TN5250 access to AS/400 applications.

  • Configuring fault tolerance and load balancing in an independent LU 6.2 environment.

    At the end of this module you will be able to integrate asynchronous communications by using MSMQ-MQSeries Bridge. This includes:

  • Describing asynchronous communications and Message Queuing.

  • Describing the MSMQ-MQSeries Bridge.

  • Installing and configuring the MQSeries client software.

  • Installing and configuring MSMQ Server.

  • Installing and configuring MSMQ-MQSeries Bridge.

    Module 12: Integrating Host Data

    The following topics are covered in this module:

  • Data Access Standards

  • Gaining Access to Relational Data

  • The ODBC Driver for DB2

  • Gaining Access to Non-Relational Host Records

  • Using the Host File Transfer ActiveX Control

    At the end of this module you will be able to integrate host data. This includes:

  • Defining data access standards.

  • Gaining access to relational data by using the OLE DB Provider for DB2.

  • Gaining access to relational data by using the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Driver for DB2.

  • Gaining access to non-relational data by using the OLE DB Provider for AS/400 and VSAM.

  • Gaining access to non-relational data by using the Host File Transfer Microsoft ActiveX control.

  • Gaining access to AS/400 data queues by using the AS/400 Data Queues ActiveX control.

  • Gaining access to AS/400 files by using the Shared Folders service.

    Student Pre-Requisites

    Before attending this course students must have:

  • Successfully completed Course 1560 Upgrading Support Skills from Microsoft Windows NT to Microsoft Windows 2000 or

  • Successfully completed Course 2152 Supporting Windows 2000 Professional and Server or equivalent knowledge and skills. This includes installing Microsoft Windows 2000 using Windows 2000 administration tools configuring hard disks and partitions creating and administering printers and controlling access of file resources by using NTFS and shared folders. And

  • Successfully completed Course 2153 Implementing a Network Infrastructure using Microsoft Windows 2000 or equivalent knowledge and skills. This includes installing and configuring (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) TCP/IP Domain Name System (DNS) and Certificate Services.
