Module 1: Introduction to Deploying and Managing Commerce Server 2000

The following topics are covered in this module:

  • Introduction to Commerce Server

  • Examining roles in Commerce Server

  • Deploying and managing Commerce Server

    At the end of this module you will be able to explain the role of Commerce Server in an e-commerce enterprise and the role of the IT professional in deploying and managing Commerce Server. This includes:

  • Describe Commerce Server and introductory concepts.

  • Describe the business roles and responsibilities in Commerce Server.

  • Describe the tasks the IT professional must perform to deploy and manage Commerce Server.

    Module 2: Installing Commerce Server 2000

    The following topics are covered in this module:

  • Examining hardware requirements

  • Installing prerequisite software

  • Installing Commerce Server

  • Installing a packaged site

  • Installing and browsing Commerce Server Business Desk

    At the end of this module you will be able to you will be able to install Commerce Server and use Site Packager to package and unpack a Commerce Server site.

    Module 3: Creating a Network Infrastructure for Commerce Server 2000

    The following topics are covered in this module:

  • Examining parts of a network infrastructure

  • Creating a network infrastructure

  • Using network devices to enhance performance

    At the end of this module you will be able to design and configure a network infrastructure that supports a Commerce Server deployment. This includes:

  • Describe the parts of a Commerce Server network infrastructure.

  • Create a network infrastructure by determining the placement of Web servers and by configuring servers.

  • Use network devices to enhance system performance.

    Module 4: Managing Product Data by Using Business Desk

    The following topics are covered in this module:

  • Creating a product catalog

  • Managing orders

    At the end of this module you will be able to create and manage product data in Commerce Server by using Business Desk. This includes:

  • Create product catalog and populate it with products.

  • Manage customer orders for products in your catalog.

    Module 5: Administering Commerce Server 2000

    The following topics are covered in this module:

  • Monitoring and maintaining resources in Commerce Server

  • Importing data to the Data Warehouse

    At the end of this module you will be able to use tools in Commerce Server to administer a Commerce Server implementation. This includes:

  • Monitor and maintain resources in Commerce Server.

  • Import data from multiple sources to the Data Warehouse.

    Module 6: Targeting Users and Managing User Accounts

    The following topics are covered in this module:

  • Managing profiles

  • Using campaigns to target users

  • Creating and scheduling a direct mail campaign

    At the end of this module you will be able to manage user accounts in Commerce Server and target users with campaigns.

    Module 7: Designing and Configuring Security for Commerce Server 2000

    The following topics are covered in this module:

  • Helping to protect your network by using firewalls

  • Configuring SQL Server security

  • Configuring databases to store user profiles

  • Securing Commerce Server files and resources

    At the end of this module you will be able to design and configure a security infrastructure that supports a Commerce Server deployment. This includes:

  • Use firewalls to help protect your Commerce Server Web site from malicious users on the Internet.

  • Configure user authentication and login accounts for SQL Server.

  • Configure databases to store the user profile information of the customers who use your site.

  • Help protect files and resources that are stored in Commerce Server.

    Before attending this course students must have:

  • Successfully completed Course 1560 Upgrading Support Skills from Microsoft Windows NT. 4.0 to Microsoft Windows 2000 or successfully completed Course 2154 Implementing and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Directory Services or equivalent knowledge and skills.
