Training
Provided by General Physics (UK) Ltd
The four processes taught are: 1. Concern Analysis. 2. Problem Solving (root cause analysis). 3. Decision Making. 4. Planning. Each will significantly improve participant capability to work for continuous improvement. Participants will learn how to break complex situations into separate issues, target high priority problems for containment and correction and perform a detailed problem solving analysis; establish the true cause of problems; track root cause; form clear decision objectives; evaluate a wide range of possible actions; assess risks; develop action plans; and troubleshoot plans adding preventative and contingent actions as needed. By learning how to separate out independent and priority issues and applying the most appropriate analytical process, participants will be better able to respond in complex situations, save time, increase their efficiency and reduce the frustration of doing tasks over again. This workshop teaches tools and techniques which build upon, and go beyond, what is learned in Quality Network Problem Solving.
This course is recommended for all employees who would benefit from improved problem solving, decision making and planning skills.

Root Cause and Decision Analysis
Participants can use the skills and knowledge acquired in this workshop to more effectively:
■ Identify the root cause of problems prioritise decisions to be made and future events to be analysed and planned.
■ Identify, describe, analyse and resolve a situation in which something has gone wrong and the cause is not known.
■ Analyse the purpose of a decision, available alternatives for achieving that purpose and the relative risks of each alternative.
■ Analyse what is known or can safely be assumed in order to avoid future problems or promote future opportunities.
Objectives
At the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:
■ Prioritise concerns using a systematic process
■ Identify the analytical process required to resolve each concern.
■ Completely and accurately describe a problem.
■ Identify the true root cause of a problem.
■ Form clear objectives from a decision.
■ Evaluate alternative courses of action and assess associated risks.
■ Anticipate potential problems and develop preventative and contingent actions to ensure effective implementation of a plan.
■ Identify potential opportunities and develop promoting and exploiting actions to enhance a plan.
