This course is designed to acquaint users with the basic knowledge of troubleshooting techniques while working with a PC. This course identifies certain hardware and software problems and provides troubleshooting techniques to resolve them. The problems discussed in this course relate to BIOS, file system, memory, hardware conflicts, viruses, adapter cards, keyboards, mouse, disk drives, printers, and modems. After completing this course, the student will be able to:

identify the four types of diagnostic software
identify the types of problems related to the BIOS
troubleshoot problems related to file system
take steps to prevent a system from crashing
resolve memory and hardware conflicts
resolve other Windows 98/2000/XP conflicts
resolve virus problems on Windows 98/2000
troubleshoot problems related to ports
troubleshoot problems related to power supply
troubleshoot problems related to a display card
troubleshoot problems related to a sound card
troubleshoot problems related to a Network Interface Card
troubleshoot problems related to a keyboard
troubleshoot problems related to a mouse
