The Linux Commands and Shell Scripting WBT is a course developed for Application Developers who are already or somewhat familiar with the Unix and DOS environment. This course describes the execution and function of various Linux commands and describes the concept of shell in the Linux environment. The course provides an overview of the various Linux commands and their use in manipulating and searching files and directories and in navigating the file system in Linux. The course also describes the features of Linux shell and the concept of creating shell scripts using shell characters. After completing this course, the student will be able to:
manipulate files and directories using Linux commands
search files using Linux commands
create archives using Linux commands
use Linux commands to navigate the file system
use Linux commands to read directories and files
list the features of Linux shells
specify commands at the shell command line
customize the shell
run programs in the background
use special shell characters
compare expressions and files using shells
