This two-day course presents a fresh look at the creative process that constantly informs the technical decisions you make in the edit bay that combination of right brain and left brain skills that is the mark of a superior editor. Through examining films and television programming throughout history, you ll be presented with a solid array of the creative aesthetic principles that lead to good editing. You ll learn to examine your own feelings about how these techniques impact the editing process, working to build the kind of sensibility that will guide you in making their own editing decisions. The hows and the whys of good editing are explored in detail, through examining how an editor works with time, with space, with performance, with writing and with other members of the creative team to create polished, professional work. This course is relevant for Avid or Final Cut Pro editors.
