Course Overview
This is the third course in a five part series that will help students prepare for the Microsoft Certified Professional exam 70-019, Designing and Implementing Data Warehouses with Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. At the completion of this course, students will learn to create a data warehouse database; perform the steps necessary to build and manage replication by using the Enterprise Manager; build a dimension and assign its member properties; build an aggregation and identify the guidelines for optimizing aggregation performance; and build a cube and a partition and manage them.

This course series is designed for IT professionals responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining a data warehouse using Microsoft SQL Server client/server database management system version 7.0. This series will help students prepare for the Microsoft Certified Professional exam 70-019, Designing and Implementing Data Warehouses with Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. It is recommended that participants take NETg course series 72470-72474, Microsoft SQL Server 7.0: System Administration and course series 72475-72479, Microsoft SQL Server 7.0: Implementing a Database or have equivalent knowledge and have completed the first two courses in this series.

Unit 1: Data Warehouse Implementation
Duration: 1 - 2 Hour(s)- Identify the various data sources of a data warehouse.
- Identify the features of Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 database storage architecture.
- Create a database for a data warehouse by using the Enterprise Manager.
- Create a fact table by using the Enterprise Manager.
- Create a dimension table by using the Enterprise Manager.
- Establish referential integrity between tables by using the Enterprise Manager.
- Identify the guidelines for designing an index.
- Identify the features of full-text indexes.
- Create an index on a table.
- Maintain an index.
- Build a Data Transformation Services (DTS) package to transfer data from a Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 database to a data warehouse database.
Unit 2: Replication
Duration: 1 - 2 Hour(s)- Create a publication in a SQL Server 7.0 database by using the Enterprise Manager.
- Create a Microsoft Access data mart for subscribing to a publication by using the Program Manager.
- Set up a Microsoft Access data mart as a subscriber by using the Enterprise Manager.
- Push a publication to a subscriber by using the Enterprise Manager.
- Verify that a publication that was sent to a subscriber has been successfully delivered using the Replication Monitor.
Unit 3: OLAP Services, Dimension and Aggregation
Duration: 2 Hour(s)- Identify the functions of the OLAP Manager.
- Match DSOs with the collections contained in them.
- Build a shared dimension by using the OLAP Manager.
- Assign a member property to a dimension member by using the OLAP Manager.
- Build aggregations by using the OLAP Manager.
- Identify the guidelines for optimizing aggregation performance.
