Course Overview
This course is the fourth in a five-part series on Novell NetWare Service and Support. This series focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and resolution of hardware-related problems that network professionals encounter while working with a network. This course covers NetWare Distributed Print Service (NDPS) printing and troubleshooting queue-based printing.

Audience
Students should be CNE candidates or technical support personnel responsible for diagnosing and resolving problems with NetWare networks. Participants should have an understanding of (or experience with) personal computers, operating systems, and network technology; experience with DOS; a working knowledge of Windows 95 or Windows NT Workstation; and experience using NetWare. In addition, students should have taken the first three parts of this series (courses 82211-13). This course series is an approved study guide that will help certification candidates prepare for exam 50-635 and is equivalent to Novell class 580.

Unit 1: Troubleshooting NDPS Printing
Duration: 3 - 4 Hour(s)- Match the NDPS components with their functions.
- Identify the characteristics of public access printers and controlled access printers.
- Create an NDPS Manager by using Netware Administrator.
- Create a public access printer by using a Novell gateway.
- Create a controlled access printer by using NetWare Administrator.
- Configure a workstation for NDPS printing by using NetWare Administrator.
- Identify the sequence of steps to troubleshoot NDPS printing problems.
- Identify the sequence of the initial steps to troubleshoot NDPS printing problems.
- Identify the sequence of the troubleshooting steps to determine the workstation that is affected by NDPS printing problems.
- Identify the sequence of troubleshooting steps to determine the platform when NDPS printing problems affect only one workstation.
- Identify the sequence of the troubleshooting steps to isolate the NDPS printing problems that affect a Windows workstation.
- Identify the sequence of steps to troubleshoot NDPS printing problems by tracking jobs from a workstation.
