Course Overview

This is the first course in an eight-part series that will provide IT professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement, administer, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional and Server. At the completion of this course, students will learn to identify the activities to be completed before installing Windows 2000; identify and perform attended installation of Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000 Server; identify and create answer files for the unattended installation of Windows 2000; and identify and perform the unattended installation of Windows 2000 by using Remote Installation Services, the System Preparation tool, and troubleshoot a failed installation.

  • Identify the Windows 2000 operating systems and their features.

Unit 1: Windows 2000: An Introduction

  • Select a Windows 2000 operating system for a specified situation.
  • Identify the hardware requirements to install a Windows 2000 operating system.
  • Identify the file system to be used for a partition in a specified situation.
  • Identify the situation in which you use a specific client access license.
  • Identify the situations in which you use a specific network security group.

Unit 2: Windows 2000: Attended Installation

Duration: 2 - 3 Hour(s)
  • Complete the text-mode attended installation of Windows 2000 Professional.
  • Complete the GUI-mode attended installation of Windows 2000 Professional.
  • Upgrade from Windows NT Workstation 4.0 to Windows 2000 Professional by using the Windows 2000 Professional CD.
  • Complete the text-mode attended installation of Windows 2000 Server.
  • Complete the GUI-mode attended installation of Windows 2000 Server.
  • Upgrade from Windows NT 4.0 Server to Windows 2000 Server by using the Windows 2000 Server CD.
