Course Overview This is the first course in a five-part series that will provide IT professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to install, manage, monitor, configure, and troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, Remote Access, Network Protocols, IP Routing, and WINS in a Windows 2000 network infrastructure. At the completion of this course, students will learn to identify DHCP concepts; identify procedures to configure, manage, and monitor DHCP servers; troubleshoot DHCP servers and clients; and configure and manage WINS servers and clients. Participants should have completed Microsoft Windows 2000 Installation, Configuration, & Administration (Course Series 72413 - 72420). Total Learning Time 6 - 8 Hour(s) Course Contents Unit 1: Networking Services: DHCP Duration: 2 - 3 Hour(s) - Identify the messages generated at the various stages of the DHCP lease generation process.
- Install DHCP on a computer by using the Windows Components Wizard.
- Create a scope on a DHCP server.
- Remove a scope from a DHCP server.
- Create a superscope on a DHCP server.
- Remove a superscope from a DHCP server.
- Create a multicast scope on a DHCP server.
- Modify the properties of a multicast scope.
- Authorize a DHCP server in the Active Directory database.
- Back up DHCP server files on a hard disk by using the Backup Wizard.
- Restore DHCP server data from a hard disk by using the Restore Wizard.
- Sequence the steps to back up a DHCP database on a DHCP server.
- Sequence the steps to restore a DHCP database from a DHCP server.
- Update the statistics of a DHCP server by using the Action menu.
- Enable address conflict detection on a DHCP server by using the Action menu.
