Course Overview

This is the third course in a five-part series that will provide IT professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to install, manage, monitor, configure, and troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, Remote Access, Network Protocols, IP Routing, and WINS in a Windows 2000 network infrastructure. At the completion of this course, students will learn to install and configure Windows 2000 network protocols; install, configure, troubleshoot, and manage IP routing protocols; and update Windows 2000-based IP routing tables.

Learn To:

  • Install and configure Windows 2000 network protocols and Quality of Service (QoS) Admission Control, and manage network traffic.
  • Identify the features of IP routing protocols. Install, configure, troubleshoot, and manage IP routing protocols.
  • Update Windows 2000-based IP routing tables, implement demand-dial routing, and manage and monitor IP routing.

This series is designed for IT Professionals who are responsible for managing a Microsoft Windows 2000 network. Participants should have completed Microsoft Windows 2000 Installation, Configuration, & Administration (Course Series 72413 - 72420) and the first two courses in this series.

Unit 1: Windows 2000 Network Protocols

Duration: 2 - 3 Hour(s)
  • Match Windows 2000 network protocols with the situations in which they are used.
  • Install TCP/IP on a LAN interface by using the shortcut menu.
  • Configure TCP/IP on a LAN interface by using the shortcut menu.
  • Label the flowchart to represent the sequence of steps used for APIPA in Windows 2000.
  • Disable APIPA by using the Registry Editor utility.
  • Install the NWLink protocol on a LAN interface by using the shortcut menu.
  • Configure the NWLink protocol on a LAN interface by using the shortcut menu.
  • Identify the benefits of QoS Admission Control.
  • Identify the features of traffic control components.
  • Match service levels with the situations in which they are applicable.
  • Install QoS ACS by using the Start menu.
  • Configure the traffic properties of QoS ACS by using the Start menu.
  • Configure network bindings by using the menu bar.
  • Capture network traffic by using Network Monitor.

Unit 2: IP Routing Protocols

  • Identify the features of OSPF.
  • Install the OSPF protocol on a Windows 2000 server by using the Start menu.
  • Configure the OSPF protocol by using the shortcut menu.
  • Configure the LAN interface on an OSPF router by using the shortcut menu.
  • Identify the steps to diagnose a problem that can occur while trying to connect an OSPF router to another router.
  • Install RIP by using the shortcut menu.
  • Configure an interface on a RIP router by using the shortcut menu.
  • Identify the corrective action for a specified problem with a RIP router on an IP network.
  • Modify the preference level of an IP routing protocol by using the shortcut menu.
  • Delete an IP routing protocol by using the Start menu.
