This is the first of two courses on Cisco Internetwork Troubleshooting. The courses are designed to prepare learners for the CCNP CIT exam 642-831. This course will cover baseline configuration and documentation of networks and end-systems, support resources for troubleshooting, and troubleshooting approaches. It covers commands and guidelines required for problem isolation and resolution at the physical and data link layers of the OSI model.

This course is aimed at professionals responsible for maintaining the efficient operation of complex computer networks, for example, System Engineers, Network Administrators, or Internetwork Engineers. Cisco employees, Channel Partners, Resellers, and customers may also take this course. It is expected that the target audience will be educated to degree level or equivalent in computer science or electrical engineering with some experience of maintaining Cisco internetworks.

- Sequence the steps to resolve a problem at the physical and data link layers.
- Sequence the steps to resolve a serial interface problem involving an inactive interface on a router.
