Course Overview
This is the first course in a five part series that presents students with both theoretical and practical instruction in the areas of an overview to SQL Server, the Transact-SQL language, and SQL Server Databases.

- Identify the features and functions of SQL Server 2000.
- Match the components of the client-server communication process with their features.
- Identify the features and functions of SQL Server 2000 services.
- Match the basic types of statements used in Transact-SQL with their functions.
- Match Data Control Language (DCL) statements with their functions.
- Identify the functions of Data Definition Language (DDL) statements.
- Identify the types of SQL Server 2000 databases.
- Identify the features of the SQL Server 2000 object-naming standard.
- Identify the methods for retrieving metadata information.
Audience
The audience for this course includes database designers, database managers, and technical managers. Candidates for Exam 70-229 operate in medium to large computing environments that use SQL Server 2000, Windows 2000 Active Directory, and Internet Information Server (IIS). Students are expected to have experience with using the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system. Students are also expected to understand database concepts and Transact-SQL syntax. Students should be familiar with the role of the database administrator.
