Course Overview This is the final course in a three part series and instructs the learner how to resolve common NDS issues. Beginning with hard disk upgrades, the course covers time synchronization and schema issues, as well as how to recover from server and communication failure. Learn To Covers the server operations performed for NDS maintenance. How to remove a server, modify server identity, upgrade hardware, recover a failed server, NDS disaster recovery, and remote access server maintenance. Cover the resolution of various NDS issues such as container inconsistency issues, time synchronization issues, unknown and renamed objects, schema synchronization, and communication and obituary problems. Audience The intended audience for this course includes End Users, Technical Managers, System Administrators, Software Engineers, Network Administrators, and Help Desk/Support. This course is for NetWare 4 or NetWare 5 CNEs, Master CNEs, CNIs, or experienced NDS administrators that have NetWare 4 or NetWare 5 CNE level experience. Learners should be CNE candidates or technical support personnel responsible for diagnosing and resolving problems with NetWare networks. Participants should have an understanding of (or experience with) personal computers, operating systems, and network technology; experience with DOS; a working knowledge of Windows 95 or Windows NT Workstation; and experience using NetWare. In addition, the learner should have taken the first two parts of the series (82731 and 82732). Permanently remove a server from an NDS tree by using the INSTALL utility. Identify the situations in which you change the identity of a server. Modify the identity of a server by using the NWCONFIG utility. Prepare NDS for hardware upgrade by using the DSMAINT utility. Restore NDS after hardware upgrade by using the DSMAINT utility. Sequence the steps for recovering a failed server. Replace the references to a failed server by using the DSMAINT utility. Perform verification activities in an NDS tree by using the DSREPAIR utility. Delete a failed server object by using NDS Manager. Verify the consistency of a replica ring by using the DSREPAIR utility. Restore the references to a server by using the DSMAINT utility. Identify the disaster recovery strategy. Identify NDS backup guidelines. Identify the guidelines to restore NDS.
