Course Overview
This final course in the series continues teaching about advanced Web design technologies and concepts, including XML, HTTP servers, cookies, plug-ins, Java applets, databases and standards organizations. This course also teaches the final step in Web site design - publishing the site.
Learn To
Identify the various Markup languages such as HTML, XML, and XHTML.
Identify the HTML limitations, XML advantages and XML rules.
Identify certain concepts related to HTTP servers and cookies.
Identify the situations in which various plug-ins are used.
Identify the steps to create a downloadable file and embed Java applets.
Identify the features of Java authoring tools.
Identify the databases, Database Management System (DBMS), and related technologies.
Identify the methods and techniques to use databases with Web sites.
Identify he Internet standards organizations involved in various aspects of the Internet.
Identify how to publish Web sites using various tools.
Audience
The audience for this course includes End Users, Application Developers, Web authors, Marketing and Communications Professionals, PR Professionals, Webmasters, Graphic Designers, Technical Writers, and Library Scientists. Students will have completed either the CIW Foundations certification or the i-Net+ certification. Both of these certifications provide a foundational knowledge about Internet networking, servers and clients, design and development, security, and using the Internet for business. In addition, students should have taken the first 4 parts in this series (87021-87024). This course prepares candidates for exam number 1D0-420.
