Certified Care & Nursing Assistant

This course covers the six required standards, which are the basis for the under pinning knowledge for the NVQ in Health & Social Care levels 2 and 3, (which PTS are also able to deliver) and will lead to entry to a nursing degree.
The standards that trainees have to cover within the first six months to enable them to become Certified Carer or Nursing Assistant include:
1. Understanding the principles of care
2. Understandings the organisation and role of the worker
3. Maintaining safety at work
4. Communicating effectively
5. Recognising and responding to abuse and neglect.
6. Developing as a worker.

There are fourteen modules and two hundred and fifteen elements that make up these six standards, and covers disciplines such as:-
Communicable diseases and infection control (based on Public Health Medicine Environmental Group Guidelines)
Health & safety, fire safety, moving and handling and control of exposure to hazardous waste (COSHH regulations and Health & Safety at Work Act 1974)
Hygiene and food safety (Food Safety Act 1990 and Regulations 2006)
Responding to abuse and protection from abuse.
Confidentiality and disclosure of information, record keeping and access to files
Loss and bereavement and helping service users face fears and anxieties.
