In Team Participation: Team Communication, participants learn to develop their ability to communicate effectively as members of a team. They acquire an understanding of different aspects of verbal and nonverbal communication and learn techniques for using both types of communication to create a supportive team environment.

Simulation Overview:
In this simulation, you will meet with Carla Jackson, one of Icon International's Human Resources Assistants. You will discuss various aspects of team communication, identify why silence may actually communicate a message, and what factors cause breakdowns in team communication.
Unit 2: Verbal Communication (0.5 - 1 hour)
List the three levels of verbal communication.
Differentiate between denotative and connotative word meanings.
List the two ways power can influence communication.
Apply the five guidelines that foster a supportive communication environment
Use the TRUST acronym when communicating.
Simulation Overview:
In this simulation, you will be meeting with Icon International's Regional Vice Presidents of Sales and the Customer Service Manager. You will be addressing a recent communication breakdown between the sales personnel and the customer service representatives. The miscommunication dealt with a discounted finance charge on corporate loans over $250,000. Subsequently, the confusion resulted in negative publicity for the company.
Unit 3: Nonverbal Communication (0.5 - 1 hour)
State the types of information gained about a speaker through nonverbal cues.
List the five types of nonverbal communication.
Describe the connection between nonverbal and verbal communication.
Apply the four guidelines for expressing positive nonverbal communication.
