Unit 1: Contracting with Consultants (0.5 - 1 hour)

  • In this simulation, you will meet with Cynthia Scott, a Design Consultant with ErgoMax Interior Architects, LLC, a consulting firm. You are the Facilities and Operations Coordinator for the Icon Product Manufacturing Division, which is preparing to relocate into a new state-of-the-art facility. You request that she identify administrative controls, which involve altering work procedures and organization. Since timely completion of the project is essential for a smooth transition into the new facility, you must impress upon Cynthia the importance of implementing her ergonomic initiatives on or before the deadlines you agree on.
Unit 2: Setting Consultant Parameters (0.5 - 1 hour)

  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation, you will meet with Pam Julian, a Human Resources Manager, and RJ Lynch, the Head of Manufacturing and Technology, to introduce them to Cynthia Scott, a Certified Professional Ergonomist. You have met with Cynthia previously to evaluate her abilities, discuss the consulting relationship, and begin developing a working contract. In this simulation, you will introduce her to Pam amd RJ in order to make them aware of the benefits the company will reap from making ergonomics and safety improvements, and keep them informed about the consulting process. During the course of the meeting, your goal is to define Cynthia's role more clearly and empower her to be an agent of change.
