HAZMAT Plans & Programs 40 Hour HAZWOPER course is the initial training required by OSHA 29 CFR 1910 120 for workers on a hazardous waste site. The HAZWOPER Training includes both classroom instruction and a hands-on HAZMAT emergency response exercise. The 40 Hour HAZWOPER training course takes place over five 8 hours days in our training classroom located in Denver, Colorado.
Who Should Take the HAZWOPER 40 Hour Course:
OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour training is a requirement for any employee who may be involved in the removal, treatment, storage or disposal of hazardous waste. This includes, but is not limited to, waste water workers, oil spill workers, contaminated soil or groundwater remediation personnel, remediation crews, employees involved with the removal or handling of underground tanks, construction workers on sites where hazardous wastes are known or expected to exist and have the potential to be encountered and HAZMAT Emergency Response teams.

HAZWOPER Training Objectives:
* Become familiar with finding topics and applicable rules in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) and the Emergency Response Guide (ERG) books
* Understand basic chemical and toxicological terminology and behavior
* Identify hazardous materials existent in the workplace or work site and the possible methods, symptoms and preventative measures of exposure
* Implement procedures for treating workers in the event of hazardous exposure
* Know how to implement your company's Emergency Response Plan
* Select and use proper and/ or specialized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
* Be able to function with an assigned role in the Incident Command System
* Understand and implement decontamination and containment procedures
* Be knowledgeable in offensive operations that may involve contact with the hazardous material
* Perform advance control, containment and/ or confinement of the hazardous material
Note: The OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour Initial training course is the minimum requirement for all employees who have the potential to come into contact with hazardous waste. Managers and Supervisors on hazardous waste sites require additional training. An 8 Hour Refresher training is required annually in order to maintain current HAZWOPER certification.
