Creating a direct mail fundraising campaign for small voluntary and community organisations
Competition for grant funding for voluntary and community organisations (VCOs) and social enterprises is increasing. In order to support VCOs to become more sustainable they have to develop a diverse fundraising portfolio. Direct mail campaigns should be a significant part of this portfolio for all VCOs.
Participants:
VCO fundraisers, managers, development workers and trustees.
Social enterprise marketers, managers, development workers and directors.
Participants will gain the skills to implement an effective direct mail fundraising campaign relevant to their VCO.
Objectives:
To support participants to clarify the difference between direct mail and junk mail
To clarify the objective of direct mail campaign
To consider the budget for a direct mail campaign
To demonstrate to how to clarify the target audience for the direct mail campaign
To plan the key milestones for a direct mail campaign
To consider the value of a unique selling proposition and learn how to develop this aspect
To support participants to consider benefits to the donor of giving to the VCO
To clarify the importance of testing a direct mail campaign
To support participants to plan the launch of the direct mail campaign
