This course is a fast-paced class designed for experienced QuarkXPress users that are now converting to Adobe InDesign CS3. To better benefit from this class, you should already understand page layout terminology, style sheets, master pages, and text formatting in QuarkXPress. Althought the concepts are the same, implentation is different and you will learn how to accomplish these tasks and more in Adobe InDesign. Production shortcuts are discussed and exercises are used extensively to reinforce the skills learned.

After completing this course you will be able to:
- Quickly navigate the InDesign’s desktop and your document
- Create new documents, defining the page sizes, columns and margins
- Create text frames for typing and importing text
- Resize and move text and graphic frames
- Utilize kerning, tracking, and baseline shift
- Alter fonts with vertical and horizontal scale for creative effects
- Thread and unthread text frames
- Spell check documents
- Add picture frames and import graphics
- Scale and rotate graphics and know when to use these options
- Wrap text around graphics
- Draw Basic shapes, lines, arrows and polygons
- Utilize layers for ultimate control of document content
- Create frame borders and backgrounds surrounding reversed text
- Produce, edit and use style sheets for rapid formatting of text
- Format paragraphs for readability and consistency
- Rapidly edit your document with Find and Change
- Add colors to items using the Color Swatch palette and by creating blends
- Create Tables
- Collect your documents, art and fonts for delivery to a service provider
- Produce PDF documents from your InDesign layout
