Improving Interpersonal Effectiveness: Workshop for Understanding Self and Others using MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Form M/Jung Type Indicator (JTI)
Overview
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a self-report questionnaire designed to make Jung's theory of psychological types understandable and useful in everyday life. MBTI results identify valuable differences between normal, healthy people: differences that can be the source of much misunderstanding and miscommunication. JTI is a similar alternate questionnaire sourced from UK.

Program Duration
One Day or Two Day options for using MBTI/JTI to understand preferences and Team Building
MBTI Form M or JTI can be done as a paper pencil test on site or as an on-line test prior to the workshop. The benefit of the online test is that each participant can be provided a hard copy of the interpretive report

Who should attend?
All employees/any adult above the age of 15

Synopsis
Taking the MBTI/JTI inventory and receiving feedback will help you identify your unique gifts. The information enhances understanding of yourself, your motivations, your natural strengths, and your potential areas of growth. It will also help you appreciate people who differ from you. Understanding your MBTI type is self-affirming and encourages cooperation with others.
The authors of the MBTI, Katherine Cook Briggs (1875-1968) and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers (1897-1980), were keen and disciplined observers of human personality differences. They studied and elaborated the ideas of Swiss psychiatrist Carl G. Jung (1875-1961) and applied them to understanding people around them. Promoted by the waste of human potential in World War II, Myers began developing the Indicator to give a wide range of individual's access to the benefits she found in knowing psychological type and appreciating differences.

Key Learning Points
After more than 50 years of research and development, the current MBTI is the most widely used instrument for understanding normal personality differences. Because it explains basic patterns in human functioning, the MBTI is used for a wide variety of purposes including the following:
Self-understanding and development
Career development and exploration
Organization development
Team building
Management and leadership training
Problem solving
Relationship counseling
Education and curriculum development
Academic counseling
Diversity and multicultural training
Content Summaries
1. Introduction to MBTI/JTI instrument
2. Administer the instrument (if paper pencil test version)
3. Discuss profiles
4. Team building (if applicable)

Assessment Tool
The MBTI/JTI instrument may be taken on-line 4 days prior to the session or in-class.

Improving Team/Interpersonal Effectiveness: Workshop for Understanding Self and Others using FIRO-B (Fundamental Interpersonal Relationship Orientation-Behavior)
Overview The FIRO-B instrument is a personality instrument that measures how you typically behave with other people and how you expect them to act toward you. Its interpretation can dramatically increase your understanding of behavior in areas such as the following:
How you come across to others, and why this may not be the way you see yourself or the impression you might want to make
How and why conflict develops between well-meaning people
How to understand your own needs and how to manage them as you interact with others
The FIRO-B, first developed in the late 1950s, is now one of the most widely used tools for helping people better understand themselves and how they can work more effectively with others. With a wealth of continuing research to validate its results, value of the FIRO-B is increasingly acknowledged by professionals and clients alike in areas such as these:
Management development
Career development
Team building and development
Personal development seminars
Communication workshops
Individual and couples counseling
Program Duration
One or Two-Day Workshop options. The FIRO-B instrument is administered as a paper pencil test or as an on-line test. The online test provides an interpretive report for each person.
Two-day team workshop will have team building events based on FIRO-B

Recommended Audience
All managers or individuals above 15 years

Synopsis Will Schultz, Ph.D., developed the FIRO-B on the theory that beyond our needs for survival, food, shelter, and warmth, we have unique interpersonal needs that strongly motivate us. These needs relate to areas he called Inclusion, Control and Affection. Just as with our biological needs, we become uncomfortable and anxious if our own unique "set point", or set of psychological needs, is not being met. The FIRO-B offers you a way of identifying the set of interpersonal needs that is most comfortable for you. Since each person's set point is unique, there are no right or wrong answers to the questions asked. According to present psychological theory, your current circumstances, repeated experiences, and responses to these occurrences encourage or reinforce the way you behave. The FIRO-B expands on this theory by maintaining that you are not necessarily bound by your typical behavior is (or isn't) appropriate at a specific time. Therefore, FIRO-B scores may change when you form new behaviors/habits or in response to what is currently happening in your life.

Key Learning Points The FIRO-B results can be used to do the following:
Show current patterns of interpersonal behavior and expectations
Raise questions about how satisfied or dissatisfied you are with these questions
Suggest alternative ways of behaving to increase your effectiveness, if you are not satisfied with your current patterns.
Content Summaries
1. Introduction to FIRO-B instrument
2. Administer the instrument if paper pencil test
3. Discuss profiles
4. Team building (if applicable)

Assessment Tools
The FIRO-B instrument may be taken on-line 4 days prior to the session or in-class.
