Conflict Costs Time and Money to Your Organization

Conflict is everywhere, and we seem to have difficulty coping with it. In fact, in most cases we flee it. Once we understand that conflict is normal and should not be avoided, resolution itself becomes more normal and part of the skills we need in society and in the communities of interest we call organizations.

We have come to realize the true cost of conflict in organizations: wasted time, wasted energy in the fight or flight syndrome, wasted salary dollars and wasted material resources. Why not give your organization a chance to recover these lost profit margins? The Defeating Conflict Workshop takes direct aim at conflict, and provides participants with the array of strategies and tactics to pre-empt them, reduce their frequency, resolve them, or mitigate their effects.

The Defeating Conflict Workshop provides you, the participant, with the opportunity to address conflict in simulations and role-plays. It provides a forum for the sharing and networking of ideas between participants from differing fields of expertise. It allows for the checking of ideas and perceptions with expert practitioners in the field. It creates among you, the participants, a community of interest in pushing forward the thinking in the field of intervening in human conflicts, especially in organizations. Most importantly, the Defeating Conflict Workshop addresses directly the staggering waste in productivity and hard currency from conflict in the workplace, whether the conflict is between two individuals, between two units, or between senior managers with different values.

Who Should Attend?

This three day learning experience is designed for all those who are called upon to help make their organizations more productive, especially executive, and senior and mid-managers who are concerned about recovering some of the costs associated with conflict in their organization. Staff managers involved in Human Resource Management, Quality Management and Organization Development will also benefit from the learning provided by the Defeating Conflict workshop.

Note
Each participant will receive a pre-work package consisting of a Conflict Intervener s CoreSkills Inventory, and workshop Introduction Exercise, to be completed prior to your attendance. The Head Coach of Defeating Conflict also conducts a telephone interview with each of the participants prior to the workshop, to set up an individual coaching and mentoring process.
