Colossal Technologies
Training Provided by Colossal Technologies Programming .NET 3.0 Frame Work 5 days - Instructor-led Learning Goals This course covers the .NET Framework 3.0, the next generation of Microsoft Windows Vista technologies to build rich clients, connected systems and workflow applications, with practical hands-on labs to reinforce the concepts: Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) allows rich client applications to take full advantage of the graphical capabilities of a Vista PC. The programming model of WPF integrates support for flexible layout, high-quality text, resolution-independent graphics, animation, video and 3D. Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) is the next-generation communication platform making it possible to build secure, reliable, and transacted systems through a simplified programming model. WFC unifies and extends many of the previous .NET technologies including XML Web Services, WSE, .NET Remoting, .NET Enterprise Services, and System.Messaging. Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) provides developers with services and tools to add rich workflow capabilities to their web and smart client applications as well as to web and Windows services. WF makes it possible to create rich Human Workflow applications that truly involve the business user. Target Audience This course is an upgrade course for professional C or VB.NET programmers experienced with Visual Studio 2005 who are interested to learn about the new programming model of Windows Vista. Course Outline Day 1..2 Programming with the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) UI composition engine Using XAML as declarative XML syntax for describing UI Creating rich client applications that exploit the machine s graphics processor with WPF Using controls in WPF Layout management The data binding architecture Styling and templates 2D graphics Resource management Building custom controls Documents, Text, and File formats 3D Graphics and animation Building connected WPF applications Deployment of WPF applications Interop and Migration Day 3..4 Programming with the Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) Architecture of WCF Service Orientation, Web services and standards in WCF The messaging layer and programming model of WCF Hosting services in different types of applications and over different communication protocols Services and endpoints Address, bindings, and contracts Channels and factories Peer-to-peer networking Serialization and versioning Hosting and activation Claims-based security, configuration of security Building reliable, queued and transacted services Transactions Configuration Manageability, Extensibility Migration: using SOAP and web services standards for interoperability Day 4..5 Building workflow applications using the Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) Architecture of WF A workflow as collection of activities Runtime hosting, hosting workflow applications Creating workflows using sequence and State-machine workflow models Using the standard workflow activities to build workflows State-machine workflows for describing application state transitions Integrating Business Rules into workflow scenarios Creating custom workflow activities Transactional programming and activity compensation Creating rich Human Workflow applications involving the business user Integrating WF with WCF Dynamic updates of running workflows Workflow designer hosting for rich workflow visualizations Workflow tracking and persistence Role-based security in workflows Consuming web services from workflows Publishing workflows as web services Communication patterns between workflows and hosts
