Unit 1: Background Information (0.5 - 1 hour)
  • Identify the benefits of motivation.
  • Use motivation to improve your performance.
  • Achieve three goals to increase your motivation.
  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation, you will be meeting with Carla Jackson, one of Icon's Human Resources Assistants. Through your questions, you will learn what motivation is, what its benefits are, and how you can use motivation to improve your performance.
Unit 2: Overcoming Procrastination (0.5 - 1 hour)
  • Identify the signs of procrastination.
  • List six causes of procrastination.
  • Use strategies to overcome procrastination.
  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation, you will meet with Robin Carlson and Greg Baldwin, two of your fellow Product Managers. The three of you make up the team responsible for organizing Icon's exhibit for the upcoming telecommunication tradeshow. The preparations for the exhibit are behind schedule, and you must determine why you are not completing your assigned tasks on time. During your conversation, you must help each other overcome procrastination, so you can get the exhibit ready on schedule.
Unit 3: Applying Self-Discipline (0.5 - 1 hour)
  • Identify the benefits of self-discipline.
  • Select role models to increase your self-discipline.
  • Enhance your self-discipline with affirmations.
  • Use three steps to exercise more self-discipline.
  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation, you will meet with Robin Carlson and Greg Baldwin, two of your fellow Product Managers, to discuss preparations for an upcoming telecommunication tradeshow. Each of you is responsible for preparing a part of the exhibit, and despite previous meetings that have been held to correct the situation, your preparations are still behind schedule. During this meeting, you need to discuss how each of you can use self-discipline to get your projects for the tradeshow exhibit back on schedule.
Unit 4: Practicing Self-Leadership (0.5 - 1 hour)
