The full five-day Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM) workshop will be held in Basel, Switzerland, 21 - 25 April 2008. The training will take place at Merian Hotel situated on the Rhein.

The workshop week will be co-led by Douglas Weidner, President, International Knowledge Management Institute; Pavel Kraus, President, Swiss Knowledge Management Forum and Senior Partner, aht'intermediation GmbH; Beat Knechtli, Director and Chief Knowledge Officer, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Zurich, Switzerland, and Barry Hardy, Director, KM Institute Switzerland
Beat Knechtli, will lead discussions of KM and Leadership, Culture, Organisational Development & Change Management, whereas Pavel Kraus will cover KM Structure, KM Tools, IT Support & Measurement, and the Business Case and metrics for KM. Case Studies & Discussions will be used to illustrate the application of KM principles and best practices.
The Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM) was created by the KM Institute s Douglas Weidner, and is a world-leading flagship KM certification training program. It is a full 5-Day learning workshop with instructor-led activities, dynamic interaction among students and additional blended supporting materials, activities and eLearning extending to the equivalent of at least 14 workshop days. The CKM training has been used to train over 600 top managers from organisations worldwide since 2001. The workshop will be delivered in English.
Part of the course can be accessed in eLearning mode prior to the workshop leaving more time for discussion and exercises at the workshop. Additional modules will also be available in eLearning mode post-workshop. The CKM certification is part of the requirement towards Masters CKM and faculty status.

Faculty Biographies
Douglas Weidner, President, International Knowledge Management Institute
Douglas Weidner is a pioneering KM practitioner and a respected consultant, columnist, speaker and KM Instructor. He was the Chief Knowledge Engineer and designated Senior Technical Fellow for $30B Northrop Grumman, and provided their KM innovations to clients worldwide, including KM training, assessment/planning, design, and implementation (1995-2001). He has consulted and mentored the World Bank (1996), the UN (2000), NASA (2000-2001) and many other government agencies and commercial firms. Mr. Weidner developed the Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM) and Master CKM Programs in 1999 2001, first delivered in 2001. He has certified hundreds of students and continues to deliver these programs worldwide.
Pavel Kraus, President, Swiss Knowledge Management Forum
Dr. Pavel Kraus is currently President of the Swiss Knowledge Management Forum (SKMF) and a Founding Partner of aht'intermediation GmbH, Switzerland.
He had 13 years management experience at Roche, including Marketing Research Management positions with Roche Pharma and the position of Head of Knowledge Management with the Roche Diagnostics Division. He lectures in Switzerland on topics of knowledge and information management and innovation at the Universities of Applied Sciences in Berne, Lucerne, and Basel. His recent KM projects include development of best practice and decision making-support systems, document management in crisis situations, development of an early warning system for technology innovation, and the optimization of information organisation and project management.
Beat Knechtli, Director, Corporate Knowledge Manager, PwC Switzerland AG
Beat Knechtli is currently a Director and Chief Knowledge Officer at Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) in Zurich, Switzerland. Prior to joining PwC in August 2006 he was Knowledge Manager and Deputy Head of Human Relations for 5 years with ABB Switzerland where he was responsible for Knowledge Management, Customized Projects and Consulting, and Organizational Development. He is also a University Lecturer for Strategic Management, Knowledge Management, Change Management and Innovation Management at the Universities of Applied Science in Basel and Bern in Switzerland. He is a Member and former Vice President of the Swiss Knowledge Management Forum. During the period from 1987-2000 he held various leadership and management positions with Roche including acting as consultant and trainer in Personnel and Organizational Development at the corporate level. He holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Basel and is an M.B.I. (Manager of Business Innovation) and a Certified Knowledge Manager.
Barry Hardy, Director, KM Institute Switzerland
Dr. Barry Hardy has been working in the area of knowledge management, communications and communities since 1994 and has organised numerous international projects in the chemical, life and medical sciences. Dr. Hardy was a National Research Fellow at the FDA Center for Biologics and Evaluation, a Hitchings-Elion Fellow at Oxford University and and is currently managing the InnovationWell Network and Community of Practice. In the area of Knowledge Management in R&D he is interested in applying KM strategies and methodologies to enabling productivity and successful outcomes in collaborative-based R&D. He has developed technology solutions for internet-based conferencing, tutor-supported e-learning, laboratory automation systems and computational chemistry and informatics. He also directs KM Institute Switzerland dedicated to the provision of professional KM training, workshops and eLearning.
