Course Description:
The purpose of this manual is to provide an overview of Mistake Proofing methodology. The text was developed for training purposes and to provide a reference for future use.
The text was written to provide for the reader techniques of mistake proofing to improve performance. Dr. Shigeo Shingo created the concepts of Mistake Proofing. Simons-White & Associates wrote the material respecting his concepts, and added additional ideas to further the learning experience.

Mistake Proofing is a fundamental part of Continuous Improvement when process meets product. Defects, errors and accidents are all results of either a poor process or product design. Mistake proofing techniques provide the strategy to improve both product and process performance while taking into account all the traits of human interaction.
