This is a fully accredited, self-paced online Medical Terminology course. Students learn medical terminology through a combination of anatomy and physiology, word building principles, and phonetic "sounds like" pronunciations. Mastery of key concepts is encouraged with full-color art, animations, and audio playback. The course contains multiple exercises, games, quizzes and tests to reinforce learning. Everything students need to complete the class is contained online. This course is perfect for non-medical professionals who want to learn medical terminology to pursue a field in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industries.
After successful completion of the course, students are able to:
* Define the meaning of medical terminology word roots, suffixes, and prefixes
* Recognize and understand basic medical terms
* Identify and decipher medical abbreviations
* Spell and pronounce basic medical terminology
* Analyze unfamiliar terms using the knowledge of word roots, suffixes and prefixes gained in the course.

Medical Terminology
The Medical Terminology for Health Professions online course can be taken for a certificate, which is good for 9. 5 CEUs (Continuing Education Units), or 3 college credit hours. The cost is $318 for the certificate and $618 for college credits. Pima Community College, regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, awards the college credits, issues letter grades and provides transcripts.
Students have access to the course for one year, but may complete it as quickly as they would like since it is entirely self-paced. (Participants do not have to interact with any other students or an instructor.)
Final scores are dependent on the exams, which are all online. Students must receive a score of 70 or above on the exams, but they have the opportunity to take the exams up to three times each. The exams are not timed.
