In this instructor-led Introduction to Medical Terminology course, participants will learn basic medical terms and their meanings. Students have the opportunity to practice basic word components including word roots, prefixes, and suffixes. To enhance learning, case studies, anatomical terms, and special diagnostic procedures are also covered in this course. Practice time for the pronunciation of medical terms is also given to reinforce recognition of terms.

Introduction to Medical Terminology
This class can be offered in 4 weeks at 4 hours per week or 8 weeks at 2 hours per week. Below is the outline for the 8 week course.

* Surgery, Diabetes, Prefixes of Place, Immunology and Numbers
* Prefixes of Direction, Narcotics, Mastectomy and Necrosis
* Descriptive Prefixes, Asepsis and Pharmacology
* Prefixes of Location and Medication Administration
* Respiratory System and Pulmonology
* Skeletal System, Orthopedics and Prefixes for Night, Sleep and Split
* Opthalmology, Endocrinology and Medical Specialties
