The CIT Course for initial certification is a five (5) day Course designed to provide in-depth review of the J-STD-001D Standard and verification of hand soldering skills for lead-free solder on:
Terminals
Through-hole
Surface Mount Technology (SMT) (through fine pitch QFPs)

J-STD-001 Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) Certification Course
The J-STD-001D provides the process control requirements for the manufacturing of electronic assemblies detailing the materials, methods and verification criteria for producing soldered interconnections.
Candidates must produce acceptable workmanship samples and pass open and closed book examinations with an average score of 80 or better. Overview includes:

3. Materials, Components, and Equipment Requirements
4. General Soldering and Assembly Requirements
5. Wires and Terminal Connections
6. Through-hole Mounting and Terminations
7. Surface Mounting of Components
8. Cleanliness Requirements
9. PCB Requirements (PCB Damage)
10. Coating and Encapsulation (Conformal Coating & Potting)
11. Product Assurance
12. Rework and Repair
