With the current increase in calls for standards across the web and the rapid emergence of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and the Web 2.0 movement, it is important for designers and programmers alike to adhere to future-compliant standards when building and developing websites and web applications.
This course covers the fundamentals of eXtensible Hyper-Text Markup Langugae (XHTML): its evolution from HTML and XML basic tags and design concepts, separating document structure from presentation, and the semantic web.
This course does is not a comprehensive study in Cascading Style Sheets. Although some properties of CSS are covered within this course, CSS training is beyond its scope. For CSS training, see Using CSS with XHTML.
It is assumed that all participants have at least a minimal exposure to HTML and the Internet before taking this course. This course does not cover FTP, web server software, or the procurement /use of web hosting.
